This is a great reddish tomato with 600-800 gram fruits. The fruits are really fleshy, very good tasting, and the yields of particularly vigorous plants are huge. The plant is indeterminate, ordinary foliage. Very tomato-like taste.
This tomato has been listed in the SSE annals since 1997, but few members have listed it. It was first listed by Bill Minkey, who describes it as a bell-shaped, almost heart-shaped, large red fruit. The original seeds are from Roberta Helpman, Ontario, Canada, who got them from an acquaintance who got them while traveling in Israel.
Since very few tomato varieties are known to be heirlooms from Israel, it is possible that people who left Europe and settled in Israel may have taken this heritage with them, but no further details are known.
